My Dinner Party

At last I have a bit of time to show you some photos me and my friends took from my birthday dinner party. It was actually such a busy day and I didn´t really have time to be taking the pictures I wanted to take and how I wanted. Instead I just asked some friends to do it for me while I was preparing the food for dinner.  Hopefully you can have an idea of how it looked like. I was so busy I didn´t even have time to put on some makeup and a pretty dress and feel like a princess, but in the end it didn´t really matter because I was amongst friends and we all had a great time. :)

I was trying to make a table with only two colors in the beginning but I quickly realized that my mother is the kind of person who only buys colorful stuff, so as you can see above, the table ended up having a lot of colors, not my favorite but did the job. xoxo Rita :)

I´m gonna party like it´s my birthday. Oh wait it is!!! :)

Yes it is my birthday!! It is not that I´m excited to be getting older, but I can´t help but be happy in this day! (in case you´re wondering I turn 24 today!! :S)

Today i´m going to give some Awkward and Awesome moments I´ve had so far, i never  done this before but I decided to give it a try it may be fun. 

Awkward: 

-Waking up and realizing it´s 9:30am when I set the alarm to 8:30am. Have no idea what happened there.

- As consequence of waking up late loosing the bus and getting late for work, arrived there one hour later… :S

- Going to work on my birthday…

- Staying up late last night because I was preparing things for the dinner party later today. I was really tired but it was worth it.

- My parents and little bro aren´t going to be on my birthday party because they went on holiday, this is normally the time they can go so it wouldn´t be fare not taking a holiday just because of my birthday.

Awesome:

- It´s My birthday!!! :)

- When I arrived at work there were chocolate bonbons on my desk. lovely!

- Im about ten minutes me and some of my friends who work with me are going to have lunch in a Nepalese restaurant. I never tried it so i´m quite excited to know how the food is.

- Because my parents aren´t home I have the house to myself, meaning lots of friends and music tonight!!

- I´m excited for the dinner party tonight it´s going to be great!! :)

Things I´m loving Dinner Party Edition.

Next Monday It´s my birthday and I´m planning a dinner party with close friends in my place. So as you can imagine I´ve been thinking on ideas to decorate the dinner table and the living room, on what kind of music I should play, what kind of desserts should I make and so on and so on...

Lisbon Walking

Ola to all of you hope you're doing fine...

This past weekend I met some friends I didn't see for a long time. We really had a great time together it was like we never actually parted from each other. Lisbon was the background for this encounter and I couldn't ask for better! It is really a gorgeous city and there's always a little place and corner you missed so you will always find new things to see here. 

As I was waiting for my friends to arrive at the restaurant I got the change to take some pictures of the area surrounding me. There were some really cool people painting Mtv toys as you can see below. 

There was also a lot of people lining up to see the elevator, it's called Elevador da St. Justa and it's a big tourists attraction:

A little insight

Today is a sad day to me you know why? Because the Artic Monkeys and The Kooks are both playing tonight in Portugal and I wont be able to see them… Can you imagine Artic monkeys and The kooks in one day? I know, can´t bare not being able to see them. The thing is my big sister is going to go so hopefully she will bring back a full report, hate her so much right now!! lol not really. :)

Anyways This month is sort of special. I don´t know if you know but in two weeks I´ll be turning 24. 24!! How did I became this old? Seriously I feel like i´m still 22, in fact I should have stopped there, 22, the age when you´re not a teenager nor do you feel a complete grown up, when people actually say you´re still young…unfortunately that is not the case and I must live on, unless I find the fountain of Eternal life or just a vampire that is able to turn me.
But, as I can´t help but age, I decided to throw a dinner party for close friends to celebrate my birthday. Nothing too fancy really just some cozy dinner where we can have a good relaxing time. I´m trying to find some decoration and food ideas for the night, we´ll probably be around 11 or 12 people. Do you have any suggestions, any sites where I could search for simple decoration Ideas for a birthday party? Any sweet and birthday cake recipes you particularly fancy? If so oh please share it with me I would really appreciate it.

On to some other news… My internship is finally coming to an end and I´ll be needing to find another job in the next month or so. Portugal being in recession every day it´s getting harder and harder to find any kind of job, so I pray I can actually find something or my life plans will all go down the toilet. The worst part for me is having to start it all over again: Giving out CVs and Portfolios, making calls, going to interviews… Oh well I guess I can´t escape that, specially if you´re a Web/graphic designer always on the move… but not everything is bad news I mean this is maybe a change for me to finally move and try life abroad, London, NY who knows? I will also have the month of August to myself, the first two weeks anyway, so I can rest, go out with friends and practice my surfing. Life is never easy is it?

New Discoveries

Hello again lovelies hope you had a great weekend and that you´re ready for this coming week (and not as grumpy as I was last friday. I´m all better now.. lol).

Today I have some interesting new discovery to share with you. As I was doing my daily blog reading I came across the work of Keri Smith. I don´t know if you heard of her or her work before but she is just amazing; I definitely enjoyed browsing trough her site and read her thoughts on how she sees the world. You should really read a story called "How I discovered my secret powers" she wrote for Penguin.com, it is just great to read and gives you a bit of the insight that is her world. Keri has such a different way to look at things that her truly simple art makes all the difference to me, I love her type of writing. Here are some great prints from her:

Awkward Friday

Once and again it´s Friday the time when all hope is  back and the hearts are feeling free, even if it´s just for two days… 

The thing is I´m not feeling any of that. Yes I know rejoice the weekend is coming, and I actually have wonderful plans for tomorrow but today I don´t feel like doing anything. I´m slow and have a bit of a headache and I´m hating the project I´m doing at work at the moment, it´s soccer related just to give you an idea! I may be a bit grumpy, I admit it. Not the bad grumpy though just the, I don´t really care kind of grumpy when you´ll answer any kind of question with a Yes or No. I bet that in a minute someone will come to me and ask me: "Why are you so sad? Is everything alright?" This kind of question will make me even more grumpy. I´ll probably have to come up with an answer that requires more than 2 words, not to be rude, and actually nothing really bad happened, I´m just not in the mood for talking!! LOL (this post it´s quite funny though!!) My only hope is lunch break. I´m thinking on doing a little walk to the shopping center and see the dress section at Pull&Bear, it always makes me happy. On the other hand the food I brought for today is not one of my favorites, it is actually from two days ago, I kept it in the freezer so it must be ok, I´ll try not to think about it while eating it… I know, I know shouldn´t throw food away and I´m not I promise!! (by the way that picture is from today and my grumpy face, so you can confirm I´m really grumpy.)

The Beginning of Everything blog design

As you probably have noticed by now I have a new blog design, Hurray!! :)
It was a lovely gorgeous lady called Amanda from The Beginning of Everything the author of it.

So Amanda and her boyfriend Peter live in San Francisco and are recently moving to L.A. sounds exciting right? As she puts it she loves to: "…Travel, photography, decorating her apartment, going on date nights, painting, writing and spending time with her family and friends." interesting lady!! :)

Card Love

I finally got the change to add some new cards to my collection. In Portugal people don't really give cards to each other, not as much as people do in the UK anyway. So whenever I go abroad I need to buy some and Paperchase is my favorite store to do so. I get lost with their stationary collection every time and need to control myself not to buy all the store! Yes, I'm one of those people who loves the smell of new notebooks I also have my share of those... but who doesn't? lol :)

While in London
