Last minute Halloween Ideas

Halloween is here and if you just realized it do not despair. Here are some pretty nice, simple ideas to make your last minute Halloween a very fun night...

1. So you don't have a costume and have no idea what to wear with so little time to prepare it? Do not fear! Grab a white sheet, make two wholes where the eyes are supposed to go and voila! Off you go as a Ghost. It's really simple and no one would recognize you at the party!

 2. You have friends coming over and don't want them to be bored? Easy, just choose some Halloween related films and have a movie night. Tim Burton has some really cool interesting films on the subject and I would suggest:

Corpse Bride (also good for kids)
Edward Scissor Hands

3. you had no time to prepare a pumpkin and don't want to waste a lot of money with the decorations? No problem, what about making your own Ghoulish jars? They're easy and look really nice. See how here.
4. Sweets and candy are very important on Halloween, but you don't want to spend a lot of time with it and also don't have a lot of money to waste. No worries. Here are some really cute ideas for your Halloween treats that will impress your guests:

Frankenstein Marshmallow pops: I really loved this idea and it is quite easy to make, see how.

Halloween Ghosts Meringue cookies: Seriously so cute and funny at the same time. It will take you just a few minutes to prepare and it will look amazing. See recipe here.

Hope you liked it and mostly find it helpful. Wishing you a great Halloween and please do share your ideas and recipes I would love to know how you did for your Halloween. Cheers **Rita** :)

The rainy season is finally here

Hey, it's finally Autumn in Portugal. Sunday was the first rain of the season, after 5 long beautiful dry months, it rained.
That day I was waiting to go to church, my friends normally pick me up with the van so we can all go together. when they arrived I sat at the back sit with another of my friends. So we went down the street and turned left heading towards the traffic lights. We were all speaking to each other, normally there's a million things going on on a Sunday. My friend that was driving was asking me something I can't really remember. The only thing I remember is next second the car in front of us was too close and ...BAM! The van hit the Mercedes that hit the other car in front of him. The next few seconds were silent in chock, trying to understand what was going on... Thank God  we all had our sit belts on and no one got hurt.
Apparently my friend was trying to stop the van way before but because the road was wet, and the van is not really what we may call new, the brakes didn't work that fast so we went sliding towards the other car. Some of us got out of the car to see if the damage was too big but for our surprise it actually wasn't! The Mercedes didn't have a scratch and the car in front of the Mercedes only had a scratch. After this of course insurance had to be taken care of in case the car had something broken inside but no big deal actually! It was just all a big scare and I'm so thankful to God there were no bigger damage.
All this to tell you that it wasn't really the best way to start the rainy season, that things may be working out badly in life but if we trust and rest in Him all is going to work out just fine. Hope you have a great week. :)

My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. (Exodus 33:14)

Lisbon at the weekend

I really can't waste an opportunity to take some pictures so whenever I go to Lisbon I must take my camera with me; you seriously never know what you might find.
Firstly I went down town for a bit of shopping. It's definitely one of my favorite places to shop in Portugal, mainly because it's not a shopping center!

Another thing I like about Lisbon, besides being and old city, are the old Tram's. I don't know what kind of person would ruin a old tram with graffiti, seriously!? They are a part of Lisbon for centuries and should be well taken care off! I actually will talk about them a bit more later. :)

For dinner I went to one of the finest restaurants in town, my grandmas house. She really is an amazing cook I have to say, and I love that she lives just in the center of Lisbon which is very good when you need a place to stay after a long night in Lisbon. After dinner me and my friend went for a place called LX Factory for coffee. That place is really something and the coffee shop is also a library, what can be more perfect?!

Finally to end the night we went to a place called the chapel that has this amazing view. I used to came here with my granny to play, really good childhood memories...

What about yous, any exciting stories from the weekend to tell? **Rita** :)

Memory Lane part 1

You know when you go trough your old pictures and videos on your computer and you find things that you've done some years ago and look really silly but you can't help but smile? This video you're about to see is one of those things. Watching it now I feel so ridiculous but I can't help but smile at the same time. I was trying to make a stop motion video, actually I think I was quite bored with all the studying so I just decided that dressing up and filming it would be more fun. I should try and do crazy things more often just for the fun of it.

You can laugh all you want, believe me I did! **Rita** :)

Ralph Lauren's Tweed Run NY

I just heard of this race called Tweed Run by Ralph Lauren that is happening next Saturday in New York. I must tell you I'm completely jealous of not leaving in NY, I would love to be there. Firstly because I love riding a bike but having vintage bikes, tweed and tea all in one is just too much! Seriously if you live in NY and are thinking on going please take some pictures so you can show it to me afterwards! lol If you visit the site here you'll be given everything you need to know about the race. Couldn't resist but posting some of their guides as you can see bellow.

One other thing that caught my eye was the videos they made to promote the race. The lovely Jamie Beck is really cute in this! She's one of my favorite photographers and I also lover her style.

Job Interviews

The past few weeks with all this job hunt I've been attending some job interviews. I don't know about you but whenever I have one in my schedule I always tend to get a bit nervous. The funny thing is that it's not with all interviews. For instance I went to an interview for a job that is not my area of studies (web design); I wasn't nervous at all! In fact I think the interview went very well. In the end the lady even said she loved talking to me... Today that I had an interview for a job that I actually want, web design related, I was so nervous I think I said the same things over and over again. You see this really annoys me. I know I could've done better! Other thing that was happening was that I kept forgetting words in Portuguese. CRAZY I KNOW! Because I write mainly in English, read in English, see English tv, lived in England, sometimes I really need to make an effort to remember some Portuguese words. It mainly happens when I'm nervous, when I have to speak to a lot of people, it is awful. I think in the end of the interview they got the impression I was really full of myself. Whenever asked what my contribution would be to the company or if I would bring something new to the website, I kept saying I have an unique point of view. Kill me now! I tried to smile and be polite when leaving but I was really so mad with myself, I just wanted to go back in the office and tell them: I AM A BIT NERVOUS CAN WE TRY THIS AGAIN? ahahah crazy! I so wish I can make it to the second fase. It's all in the hands of God now, I really need to relax.

What about yous, how do you stay calm before a job interview, any advice or stories to share?

Pineapple Mint Vintage

Hello lovelies hope you're all doing fine with the coming of October. I know I am, so far we're still having 30 something degrees can you believe people still go to the beach? Amazing! Summer probably read my blog, took pity on me and decided to stay for a couple of weeks more. I ain't complaining I can tell you that! I'm still using slippers and drinking cold tea. Seriously I'm looking outside the window and the weather is great, the leafs on the trees are not moving a bit, there is no wind at all. This means I can still wear cute summer dresses!

Moving on to some other exciting news, a few days ago I received a lovely package from Pineapple Mint Vintage. I won her giveaway and I couldn't be more excited. The blazer I chose is going to be given as a present to my mom, her birthday is this upcoming Saturday. Actually she already tried it and loved it.
So thank you so much Kim I loved it.
